The Healing Powers of Vitamins and Minerals
Vitamins have enjoyed some positive publicity over the last few years, but regardless of some of the claims made, they are not the secret elixir of life. Having said that, it is actually very tempting to believe that they are. Anything that’s as easy to take as a vitamin supplement that offers eternal youth, look better, help fight off conditions like cancer and heart disease, boost your immune system, battle against viruses and colds, help you handle anxiety attack and supercharge your vigor definitely sounds moderately miraculous or magical. Over the last few years, when word started to spread about the preventive potential of nutritional supplements, lots of people went wild for bottled nutrients and were desperate to learn if they might be used as part of a liver detox diet plan. As it happened, so did health authors and even some medical doctors. For some time, it was starting to sound like you could protect yourself against illness just by taking loads of vitamins. Just take enough vitamins or the right combination of vitamins, and bingo! Ultimate health here we come. We realized soon enough that this wasn’t to be. Of course, health supplements, regardless of how powerful they may be, aren’t the magic potion they were initially seen as. However, they do have a vital role to play in protecting our health. A lot of clinical studies just recently are generating interest in this vital subject once again. Some of the things that scientists have discovered regarding the life enhancing powers of these nutrients all but boggle the mind. Let’s take a brief look at just one study that didn’t get all that much publicity. Scientists in the UK monitored 200 people working in management roles within the manufacturing industry. In the program, they gave one group a typical multivitamin/mineral supplement and another group a look-alike pill that did not contain nutrients. After 8 weeks, the people taking the vitamins felt a definite improvement in their quality of life and wellbeing. The placebo group reported no significant changes to their wellbeing. Researchers concluded that the supplements appeared to have a positive effect on improving the managers’ moods and reducing their stress levels. And all of that from taking a complete health supplement each day… with hard scientific data confirming that it works. As ongoing research studies collect more data accumulating a wealth of information about the protective properties of these health supplements, especially when they are included as part of a herbal detox diet, we’re back at the good old days again: eager to take advantage of all of this healing potential – yet confused by the overwhelming hype and dis-information out there. While the reasons for taking vitamins and minerals are now based on solid science, shopping for nutrients is still nothing less than overwhelming. You Should always make contact with your doctor prior to taking action on medical advice coming from non medically recognised sources. No related posts.
